Academic Level Guide

Undergraduate

Applicants normally need 12 years of schooling or recognized equivalents such as O-Level and A-Level, International Baccalaureate, high school diploma, or equivalent national qualifications.

Postgraduate

Applicants usually need a recognized bachelor degree. Some universities ask for a minimum CGPA, relevant academic background, or professional experience.

MBBS, BDS and Pharmacy

Science background is required, usually including Biology, Chemistry, Physics, and often Mathematics. Medical and dental applicants should follow current DGME and institution-specific circulars.

PhD and Research

Research applicants generally need a relevant master's degree, research proposal, supervisor or department approval, and evidence of academic writing or research capacity.

English and Testing

If the applicant's previous medium of instruction was not English, universities may ask for TOEFL or IELTS. This portal previously listed TOEFL 550 PBT, 160 CBT, 55 IBT, and IELTS 6.0 as minimum acceptable scores; individual institutions may use different thresholds.

SAT may strengthen undergraduate applications, while GRE or GMAT may strengthen graduate applications where relevant. These are often preferred rather than mandatory unless a department specifies them.

Before You Apply

  • Confirm the latest program-specific eligibility with the institution.
  • Prepare certified English translations if documents are not in English.
  • Check visa, health, accommodation, and financial evidence requirements before travel.
  • Medical and dental applicants should use official DGME circulars and eligibility lists for the relevant academic session.
